Afternoon Class of 2022,
A few updates and reminders as we cross the half way mark of the school year.
Mr. Relland and I will be reviewing your graduation progress next week to ensure you have all the necessary courses and that your academic trajectory is intact and on-track. We will only be meeting with those that require a corrective measures conversation and so we can establish a plan for graduation in June.
I know there has been some very exciting Public Health Order (PHO) announcements recently, which are directed at commercial/business/public areas. This is good news; however, school districts are under the Ministry of Education (MOE) and as such we wait, but are hopeful for announcements of new and relaxed restrictions.
So what has been planned for your graduation weekend celebration:
June 4th Commencement: it will be one of two options; as in the past two years, individual timeslots, or the more traditional format, in the gym and open to family and community. Under the current MOE guidelines, we are looking at the individual timeslots; again, we are waiting for new and relaxed restriction announcements so that we can move towards the traditional model.
June 5th Prom Celebration: celebration will be at the Sunshine Valley Hall, Lori's Catering from Agassiz for the dinner, students will arrange their own form of transportation, which will need to be signed off by your parent/guardian prior, arrive at the hall for 6pm, 6:30pm Key note speaker, 6:45pm dinner, if no dancing permitted – canned playlist, if dancing permitted – DJ and lights booked.
Grad Exec is exploring a few dry grad event options and a survey will be sent out soon. Event, date and time still to be determined, but shared out within the survey.
Virtual Talent Show: Grad Exec is polling the grad class via the link below to determine if there is enough interest to produce a virtual talent show. This link will be live until Feb 28th.

Fundraiser: Spring Plant order forms will be available before the March spring break with orders due mid-to-later April. Order forms and information will be posted on the grad bulletin board and emailed out.
Personal Grad Fundraising Balance: if you are interested to learn the amount you have fundraised/accumulated in your grad account, please stop by the office and see Mr. K.

I would like to acknowledge that Hope Secondary School is situated on the traditional ancestral and unceded shared territory of the Chawathil people of the Tiyt Tribe. The Tiyt Tribes of the Stó:lō territory extend along the boundaries down both sides of the Fraser River from Yale to Seabird. We thank you for welcoming us to the territory and allowing us to carry out the work we are doing today.
